Are your clothes poisoning you?

Do you know what chemicals are lurking in the clothes you wear everyday?  You know harmful chemicals are lacing our food, air, water products, let’s face it, just about everything, but have you ever thought about the clothes you reach for every day?  Are your clothes poisoning you? Are they making you sick? While all-natural, organic fibers are best – good luck finding them, the clothing industry is a seven TRILLION dollar a year industry  – it’s BIG Business and employees millions of people. But, it’s an industry loaded with toxic chemicals – chemicals that are absorbed by the largest organ on the human body – our Skin!

And it’s not just our everyday clothing – think you’re doing your body a favor with regular workouts – beware you could be doing more damage than good.  According to an article in Shape Magazine, two independent studies reveal that active wear contains highly toxic chemicals, “Greenpeace reports on chemical content in sportswear and fashion suggest they might be. Their analysis found that sportswear from major brands contained known hazardous chemicals, like Phthalates, PFCs, Dimethylformamide (DMF), Nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs), and Nonylphenols (NPs). And a Swedish study estimates that ten percent of all textile-related substances are considered to be of potential risk to human health.” Read full article here
